Frequently Asked Questions
Uncommon Physical Therapy is an out-of-network healthcare provider, meaning we are not in contract with, nor do we directly accept insurance. However, we can provide you with all necessary information to submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement of all, or some of your physical therapy services. Our recommendation is to contact your insurance provider to better understand your out-of-network benefits prior to your first visit.
While the traditional insurance model is certainly beneficial for some, for others our
belief is that it inhibits our ability to properly examine, diagnose and provide intervention in the
way
we feel is best for you.
“Common” physical therapy practices will oftentimes recommend patients to seek services 3x/week over
the
course of 4-6 weeks. At Uncommon Physical Therapy, we usually see you 1-2x/week, and based on your
response will provide best guidance to determine the frequency and duration of care.
“Common” physical therapy practices will oftentimes be treating multiple patients simultaneously. At
Uncommon Physical Therapy, we see you directly one-to-one for each and every visit.
“Common” physical therapy practices will oftentimes utilize other clinicians, assistants or techs to
provide your care. At Uncommon Physical Therapy, you work with just myself. Period.
Ultimately, what this amounts to is a higher level of care, less visits, less time spent away from
work
and family, and less overall costs. Time is valuable. Our promise is to ensure that your time is
spent
on what matters, you.
It depends. Alabama is still considered a limited direct-access state. What this means is that for
any injury or condition, we can provide an initial evaluation or consultation of a screening nature
without a referral, to determine whether physical therapy is appropriate. If further medical
evaluation is warranted, we have the resources to get you connected with a licensed medical
professional quickly. If your situation is appropriate for immediate physical therapy interventions,
we must require a referral from qualified medical provider to initiate care.
If you have already seen a physician, nurse practitioner, licensed assistant to a physician, dentist
or chiropractor for your injury or condition, then a referral from that respective individual is
required.
For anything related to injury prevention, reduction of stress, or promotion of fitness, there is no
referral necessary.
When you schedule an appointment, we will send you all the required documents and information prior to your visit.
Our hours are 6AM - 10PM, Monday - Saturday.
